But his relentless conquest is shattered by his own doubts and the horrors he witnesses. Rebaine abandons his dream of an iron-fisted rule, choosing to vanish into obscurity and live a peaceful life with his captured wife, Tyannon. His past, however, refuses to remain buried. Seventeen years later, a new warlord, Audriss, emerges, mirroring Rebaine's past ambitions. Rebaine's quiet life is shattered when his daughter falls victim to Audriss's cruelty. Forced to confront his past, Rebaine once again dons the armor of the Terror of the East and seeks to rally his old allies. But years have changed them.
