Jordan Locke - The Only Boy

The Only Boy: Where Secrets and Survival Collide

The Only Boy by Jordan Locke plunges us into a world where women rule and men are a distant memory, erased by a cataclysmic event known as the Cleansing. Mary, trapped in Section One, a crumbling hospital housing hundreds of women, yearns for a past she can only imagine. The Matriarch's iron-fisted rule dictates their lives, forbidding them from venturing into the desolate city that lies beyond their walls. Taylor, a boy whose secret is as dangerous as it is hidden, finds himself thrust into this world of women. His compound, destroyed by an unknown force, has relocated him to Section One, a place where he must shed his identity and blend in with the girls. Baggy clothes conceal his youthful form, but the fear of discovery weighs heavily on him.
Mary, innocent of the existence of men, has never seen a boy. The Matriarch, in her paranoia, has removed all images of men from textbooks. Taylor's secret remains hidden, and Mary, drawn to his presence, unknowingly breaks the Matriarch's rules just to be near him.
A forbidden connection blossoms between them, fueled by curiosity and an unspoken longing. Mary, yearning for knowledge of the past, finds herself drawn to Taylor's presence, while Taylor, clinging to his secret, feels the weight of his survival hanging in the balance. The Only Boy is a story about forbidden love, survival, and the struggle for identity in a world where secrets are both a blessing and a curse. It is a powerful exploration of the human condition, set against a backdrop of dystopian world building. Jordan Locke's writing style is captivating and lyrical, drawing readers into a world both familiar and alien. The author's sharp observations and nuanced characters create a story that is both thought-provoking and emotionally resonant.
