The Kiss Off: A Teenage Heartbreak Turned Global Hit

Sixteen-year-old Poppy Douglas is hurting. Her ex-boyfriend, Cam, and her ex-best friend, Nikki, have left her feeling betrayed and heartbroken. To cope, Poppy pours her emotions into a song, a raw and honest ballad that captures the sting of betrayal and the ache of lost friendship. She uploads her song to YouTube, never imagining the whirlwind that will follow.

A local band discovers Poppy's song and, impressed by its raw emotion, decides to record their own version. The song explodes onto the local club scene, drawing crowds and sparking a buzz that soon reaches international ears. Poppy finds herself thrust into the spotlight, suddenly part of a band that's climbing the charts and gaining a massive fanbase.

But as Poppy navigates the dizzying world of fame, she realizes leaving Cam behind is harder than she thought. Her life is a tangled mess of unfinished schoolwork, ill-advised sexting, and a new boyfriend, the charismatic lead singer of the band that launched her into stardom. Poppy is caught between the boy who inspired her song and the rock god whose posters adorn every locker in school. She must choose between the past and the future, the familiar and the exciting, the boy who broke her heart and the boy who's captivating the world.

As Poppy struggles to keep her personal life private, she learns a painful lesson: truth can be elusive when your life is plastered across headlines. Can she find a way to reconcile her past with her present, her heartbreak with her newfound fame, and her bruised heart with her dreams of a future in music?
