Steven dos Santos - The Culling

The Culling: A Dystopian Thriller of Love and Sacrifice

In a world ruled by the iron fist of the Establishment, where survival is a constant struggle, Lucian "Lucky" Spark faces a harrowing reality: Recruitment Day. This day marks the beginning of a brutal competition to join the Imposer task force, an elite group enforcing the Establishment's will. Lucky, along with four other Recruits, must endure increasingly challenging and violent military training, each stage culminating in a brutal selection process. The stakes are high: failure means sacrificing a loved one, known as an "Incentive," to a gruesome death. For Lucky, the weight of this choice is immense. His only remaining family, his four-year-old brother Cole, hangs precariously in the balance. He is willing to do anything, even if it means sacrificing others' families, to protect Cole. But amidst the violence and brutality, Lucky finds solace in the rebellious charm of Digory Tycho, another Recruit. Their bond deepens as they train together, but in a world where love is seen as a weakness, a weapon, their connection is a dangerous gamble. As Lucky navigates the treacherous path of the Culling, he must confront not only the ruthless training and the constant threat of death but also the perilous consequences of his burgeoning relationship with Digory. Love, in this dystopian world, is a dangerous commodity, and the price for succumbing to its allure is high. **The Culling** is a heart-pounding tale of survival, sacrifice, and the enduring power of love in the face of adversity.
